Bengaluru News Live Updates, June 20: The Congress in Karnataka will today stage demonstrations across all district headquarters against the BJP-led central government for “denying” rice for the State’s ‘Anna Bhagya’ scheme, which offers 10 kg rice to each member of families living below the poverty line. The Centre recently discontinued the sale of rice and wheat from the central pool under the Open Market Sale Scheme (OMSS) to state governments.

Meanwhile, former Karnataka Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar is among the three Congress candidates named by the party for Legislative Council polls scheduled for June 30. The others are Minor Irrigation Minister N S Boseraju and Tippannappa Kamaknoor, a close aide of party chief Mallikarjun Kharge and former MLC.
